Lionel Messi is officially Inter Miami's joint-fourth all-time top scorer following his hot start to life in the Major League Soccer.

The 36-year-old was initially linked with an emotional reunion with Barcelona, while a mega-money move to Saudi Arabia had also been rumoured.

However, the legendary forward elected to have a new challenge away from Europe, with Inter Miami landing him on a free transfer, per The Guardian.

Messi's hot start in MLS

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has not struggled to settle in the MLS, with the Barca icon enjoying an impressive start to life in America.

Messi has already netted seven goals in just four appearances, marking his debut with a stunning stoppage-time free-kick against Cruz Azul last month.

The ex-PSG ace followed up the goal with a brace in each of his next three appearances for Inter Miami, with the last coming against FC Dallas.

According to ESPN, the Argentina international is now the Florida-based club's joint-4th all-time top scorer.

Messi is now level with team-mate Josef Martinez and former Miami players Lewis Morgan and Rodolfo Pizarro with seven goals.

He needs just 15 goals to become the club's all-time top scorer.

The record is currently held by the forward's fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuain, who found the back of the net 22 times for the club.

Messi reveals his GOAT stance

Sports Brief also reported on Messi discussing the GOAT debate as fans continue to argue on whether the Argentine star or his famed adversary, Cristiano Ronaldo is superior.

While the discussion almost exclusively revolves around the 2022 World Cup winner and the Portuguese phenom, Messi had an interesting take on the situation.
