Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson shared a public reunion for the first time since departing Liverpool within the past year.
The iconic figures of Anfield crossed paths at the launch event for the Saudi Pro League on Monday evening, where a gathering of the league's star-studded cast was presented.
Mane and Henderson unexpectedly reconnected, having both shifted their careers from Europe to the Middle East.
The Senegal international made the move to Al-Nassr after a less-than-ideal season with Bayern Munich, while the England international, after bidding an emotional farewell to Liverpool in a video announcement, signed a contract with Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq in July, concluding his successful 12-year tenure at the club, per Liverpool Echo.
Both players have already taken the field for their new teams: Mane participated twice in the Arab Club Champions Cup while Henderson was captain in a pre-season friendly for his new team.
During the celeb-studded launch event for the 2023/24 Saudi League, the English and Senegalese internationals coincidentally crossed paths, leading to a heartwarming interaction, Mirror reports.
Mane, seemingly taken aback by Henderson's departure from Liverpool and his move to Saudi Arabia, shared four words with his former captain.
"I can't believe it," he said, punctuating his surprise with several warm embraces.
Mane makes his Al-Nassr debut
After completing his move from Bayern Munich, Mane made his debut for Al-Nassr in the clash against Zamalek in the Arab Club Champions Cup.
Introduced after half-time, the 31-year-old forward came close to marking his debut with a goal, but unfortunately, his effort missed the target.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet, his teammate and captain - Cristiano Ronaldo - scored late as the Egyptians held the Saudis to a 1-1 draw.
