Nigeria may be out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but Nigerians are delighted with the Super Falcons - especially Michelle Alozie - despite her penalty miss against England.
The Super Falcons defender put on another impressive performance as England knocked out the 11-time African champions via penalties after a goalless game in regular time.
Alozie was key for Nigeria, frustrating England’s best player, Lauren James, throughout the encounter and eventually getting her sent off when the Chelsea forward lost her cool by stamping on her, as Sport Bible reported.
The Super Falcons would eventually lose the high-pressure knockout game 4-2 via a post-match penalty shootout, with the defender and Desire Oparanozie missing their respective spot kicks.
However, Alozie featured in every game for Nigeria at the World Cup, making three appearances in the group phase and also against England in the Round of 16.
