  • After the game, awed FC Dallas players were seen queuing for a selfie with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner

Lionel Messi’s latest performance for Inter Miami was so clutch that rival players put the pain of defeat aside to take a photo with the superstar.

The 36-year-old was the show's star once again as he dragged Inter Miami from the brink of elimination from the Leagues Cup against FC Dallas.

The scores were 4-2 with less than 15 minutes to go, and Messi took matters into his own hands.

At the Toyota Stadium, the Argentine was involved in all of Inter Miami’s four goals, including a jaw-dropping free kick which forced the game to penalties after it ended 4-4 regulation time.

With no extra time in the Leagues Cup, the game went straight to penalties, with Messi leading his team in the shootout with the first spot kick, as cited on BBC.

Dallas star Paxton Pomykal blasted his penalty over the bar to hand the advantage and eventual victory to Messi’s side, who continue their resurgence since the Argentine’s arrival to the MLS.

Dallas players take selfies

After the game, interesting footage shared by @FCBAlbiceleste showed several Dallas players asking Messi for a photo, and the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was all too willing to oblige.

Never mind the fact that FC Dallas just suffered heartbreak in a cup tie as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a snap with a player considered the greatest of all time was more important, at least in that moment.

Messi has taken the MLS by storm, scoring seven times in four games, including his brace against Dallas FC.

Messi stats in first 4 games

Sports Brief also reported on Messi’s impressive stats in his first four games as an Inter Miami player.

Incredibly, all of Messi's seven goals have been vital in a way, especially in their Leagues Cup campaign.

The Barcelona legend marked his MLS debut with a stunning last-gasp free-kick that earned Inter Miami a crucial 2-1 win over Cruz Azul.
