FootballArsenal Now Facing EPL Title Curse After Community Shield Triumph

- A section of fans is confident the Gunners are in a pole position to challenge for the Premier League in 2023/24
- Arsenal beat Man City in post-match penalties to lift the Community Shield on Sunday
Arsenal are facing a major Premier League title curse following their Community Shield triumph on Sunday, August 6.
The Gunners stunned Manchester City in post-match penalties at Wembley Stadium to secure the crown ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Mikel Arteta's charges exhibited resilience during the epic clash as they staged a comeback to draw 1-1 after regulation time.
According to Sky Sports, Leandro Trossard cancelled out Cole Palmer's 77th minute opener IN stoppage time to force the tie into the shootouts.
The north Londoners went on to convert all their four spot-kicks, with Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri fumbling from the spot for City.
Arsenal facing Community Shield curse
Many Arsenal fans will be hoping that their Community Shield triumph will catapult them into Premier League glory next season.
However, this may not be the case going by the history of previous winners of the trophy.
Daily Star reports that only one Community Shield winner since 2011 has gone on to win the Premier League, with all others during the period under review struggling.
And Arteta seemingly knows the task that lies ahead, at least going by his post-match comments.
“If you want to challenge for that championship, you know the total points that you’re going to be needing and that’s unheard of in this league for the last 100 years,” the Arsenal boss reckoned.
“So that’s the standard and, if you want to be there, you know what you have to do,” he added.
De Bruyne warns Arsenal
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester City players are moving on quickly from the Community Shield loss to Arsenal and are focused on their Premier League opener against Burnley.
Kevin De Bruyne, who missed City's first penalty in the shootout, issued a note of warning to Arsenal after the game, following both teams battling it out for the title last season.
