According to The Mirror, the tie was decided via penalties after ending in a 1-1 draw during regulation time.
City looked on course to secure a slim win after youngster Cole Palmer netted the opening goal in the 77th minute, only for Leandro Trossard to draw Arsenal level at stoppage time.
Mikel Arteta's charges went on to convert all their spot-kicks, with midfielder Fabio Vieira scoring the winning penalty.
Vieira's converted effort sparked wild celebrations from the Arsenal camp, including from Arteta, who raced through the pitch in jubilation.
Arsenal mocked for celebration
However, a section of former footballers led by Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane was less than impressed with the celebrations, with many appearing to downplay the significance of the trophy and the match.

The duo's observation was backed by a section of fans on social media, with one posting:
"Arteta going absolutely wild. How embarrassing."
