Harry Maguire's Manchester United nightmare hit a new low on Sunday, August 6, after he got 'scolded' by an academy star 12 years younger than him.

The embattled United defender was in action during the Red Devils' penultimate pre-season clash against Athletic Bilbao.

However, the Englishman did little to redeem himself after his big blunder led to Bilbao's opener in the tie.

According to Sky Sports, despite United starting the game on a bright note, it was Bilbao who took the lead in the 29th minute via Nico Williams, who poked the ball past Tom Heaton following a mistake by Maguire.

The former United skipper went on to make a good account of himself by assisting Facundo Pellistri for the Old Trafford dwellers' equaliser at stoppage time.

Maguire 'clashes' with Dan Gore

However, it was a moment involving Maguire and United academy graduate, Dan Gore that became a major talking point after the match.

According to The Sun, Gore, who is 12 years younger than the England international, appeared to have a word with the centre-back for failing to react properly to a pass in the first half.

The incident got fans talking on social media, with some making fun of the deposed skipper.
