According to The Sun, the new measures will see match officials better able to punish “unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines, and in the stands."

Arteta fell victim to these new changes as he was punished during Arsenal's clash against Manchester City during the Community Shield on Sunday, August 6.

The Spaniard landed himself in trouble after he confronted the fourth official to express his displeasure after the referee failed to book Rodri for a foul on Kai Havertz.

Arteta's antics earned him a yellow card from referee Stuart Attwell as a caution for his conduct.

It is understood that the Gunners' boss would have been sent off if he had gotten a second yellow.

Arsenal crowned champions

Meanwhile, Arteta would have little to nothing to worry about after his booking as he went on to lead his side to triumph in the clash.

Sky Sports reports that the North Londoners were crowned Community Shield champions after they stunned City 4-1 in post-match penalties.

The tie had to be decided via the shootout after it ended in a 1-1 draw during regulation time.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring for City in the 77th minute before Trossard netted the equaliser in stoppage time to force the tie to penalties.

De Bruyne warns Arsenal

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester City's players are moving on quickly from the Community Shield loss to Arsenal and are focused on their Premier League opener against Burnley.

Kevin De Bruyne, who missed City's first penalty in the shootout, issued a note of warning to Arsenal after the game, following both teams battling it out for the title last season.
