Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount found himself on the wrong side of the club’s fan base after a horrific miss during his side’s friendly against RC Lens on Saturday, August 5.
United continue to warm up for the new season and were looking to bounce back from three straight defeats in pre-season against the French side.
Having started the game brightly, United got a brilliant chance in the 15th minute, and it came to their £55 million signing.
After some intricate passing, United youngster Alejandro Garnacho found himself through on goal, but the angle was a bit tight and he decided to square the ball to Mount, who had also made the run forward.

FootballMount was expected to tap the ball in, with the goalkeeper in no man’s land, but the former Chelsea ace somehow fluffed his angles and completely missed the shot, scuffing his effort to allow RC Lens to break out.
As expected, Mount was instantly a trending topic on social media as fans, presumably those from Chelsea, went in on the midfielder.
“They laughed when we said this guy was our worst player last 2 seasons,” one fan commented.
“When I look at Mount and Havertz it baffles me how anyone can try and discredit Tuchels achievements,” another added.
“Taking that number 7 was a setup for him,” joked another fan.
“That's inexcusable can't wait for the man u fans to act like us 2 seasons ago and defend that,” went another.
United were eventually made to pay for that miss as RC Lens took the lead through Florian Sotoca.
