FootballAxel Disasi: Incredible Stat Shows Chelsea’s New Signing Could outperform Fofana
- Chelsea completed the signing of Axel Disasi on Friday, August 4
- The 25-year old has a unique attribute that places him ahead of several veteran defenders at Stamford Bridge
- He has signed a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge to bring an end to his stint at Monaco
Chelsea fans can now feel relieved after the club completed the signing of Axel Disasi from Monaco.
The move is a welcomed one from a Chelsea fan’s perspective, as Disasi can now offer backup to Wesley Fofana, who recently suffered another worrying injury.
The Frenchman signed a six-year deal at Chelsea, and will likely be at Stamford Bridge until he is 31.
He has played four times for the French national team, and came on as a substitute in the World Cup final against Argentina in December 2022.
Notably, Disasi is the sixth summer signing of Chelsea after the Blues also acquired Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo Gabriel and Diego Moreira.
Disasi’s edge over Chelsea defenders
In his first sentiments as a Chelsea player, Disasi made it clear he was intent on winning titles with his new club.
"I hope to achieve very big things here. To win titles. I will do everything I can to achieve those objectives. I am very ambitious,” he said, per BBC.
While his ambition is unquestionable, Disasi also possesses a trait which will make him an asset for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
As per stats on Transfermkt, the defender featured in all 38 games of Monaco’s Ligue 1 season in the 2022/23 campaign, making him one of the most consistent players.
Chelsea’s current defenders can hardly boast such a stat, especially with the likes of Thiago Silva being in the twilight days of his career.
Wesley Fofana, despite being just 22, is struggling to find consistency as injuries always seem to haunt him , right from his days at Leicester City.
Chelsea fans convinced they have found the perfect Number 9 in Nicolas Jackson
FootballWith this in mind, Mauricio Pochettino could find himself utilizing his £38.5m more often than anticipated.
