Cristiano Ronaldo shared a warm hug with Sadio Mane and the rest of his Al-Nassr teammates to celebrate their qualification to the knockout phase of the Arab Club Champions Cup on Thursday.
Once again, the Portuguese veteran showcased his prowess in clutch moments, delivering a towering header that secured a crucial draw for his Saudi Arabian side.
Not only did his flying header rescue a point for the Knights of Nahd, but it also secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the regional competition, Inside Sport reports.
Despite Zamalek threatening to upset the odds by breaking the deadlock shortly after halftime, Ronaldo produced a picture-perfect moment with his header in the 87th minute.
The goal proved to be the deciding factor as Al-Nassr finished in the second position behind Al-Shabab, setting up a thrilling quarter-final tie against Moroccan outfit, Raja Casablanca, on August 6.
After the match, Ronaldo took time to embrace his teammates, starting with the new signing - Mane - as he congratulated the team for their tremendous efforts.
The game also served as the Senegalese star's debut for Al-Nassr, having recently completed his transfer from Bayern Munich during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Ronaldo's crucial goal saves Al-Nassr
Sports Brief also reported that Ronaldo continued his Al-Nassr scoring streak, netting his second consecutive goal in the tie against Zamalek at the King Fahd Stadium on August 3.
After Zizo put the Egyptians in the lead, the Portuguese veteran's spectacular flying header equalised the score for the Saudi Pro League side and saved them from an early exit.
The draw was enough for the Riyadh-based club to reach the knockouts of the Arab Club Champions Cup, finishing in second position behind fellow Saudi Arabian club, Al-Shabab.
