Barcelona stars are untroubled by Real Madrid potentially acquiring Kylian Mbappe, who is arguably the best player in the world.
Mbappe has been strongly linked to Real Madrid this summer amid his contract standoff with Paris Saint-Germain.
The France captain has one year left on his deal and refused to sign an extension, an outcome club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said would force the club to sell the winger this summer. Interestingly, Mbappe has said that he wants to stay at PSG, per the Athletic.
It is believed that Mbappe wants to join Real Madrid next summer for free, a situation PSG are desperate to avoid. They are reportedly willing to take extreme measures, like benching him all season, to force him out. It remains one of the most intriguing transfer sagas in recent years.
Barcelona players on Mbappe
Real Madrid are Barcelona's arch-rivals, and signing Mbappe would mean they would have one of the world's best players in their ranks. The Blaugrana beat their bitter rivals to the title last season, and Mbappe would definitely help in bringing the title back to the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, some of the Barcelona players are unfazed by the Mbappe to Madrid rumors. In fact, captain Sergi Roberto boldly said that Barcelona have the best squad in the world, per Football Espana.
“For me, Barcelona have the best squad in the world. We have a template to fight for everything.”
Youngster Gavi was bullish when asked about Madrid possibly signing Mbappe.
“Real Madrid can sign whoever they want, I absolutely don’t care. We will do our own thing and we are going to fight to the death (to beat them).”
Barcelona President Joan Laporta echoed those sentiments.
