England may be in devastating form at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, but Lauren James has warned her teammates not to underrate any team ahead of the knockout stages.
The Lionesses pummeled China 6-1 in their final group game to finish as Group D winners and set up a meeting with Nigeria, who finished second in Group B.
The Falcons survived a group that had Canada and co-hosts Australia after picking up a point against the North Americans and Ireland on either side of an impressive 3-2 win over the Matildas.
The African giants blew chance after chance to secure a win against Ireland that could have ensured they finished group winners and faced Denmark instead of the Brits.
James expects tough game
According to Squawka, she is the first player to score and assist 2+ goals each at this years's tournament after she scored twice and assisted a further three goals, and had another goal ruled out for offside in the win against China.
She admits the European champions won't find it easy against Nigeria.
“Nigeria is going to be very tough, to be fair every team has been tough, even watching the other games. Teams are catching up with each other, and I know that will be another very difficult game,” she told ITV Football.
There have been upsets at the tournament, with Canada, Brazil, and Italy already eliminated. Germany could still be eliminated today, while South Africa and Jamaica progressed.
