  • Manchester United, Arsenal, and Man City are all expected to challenge for the EPL title next season
  • However, it is City who have been backed by a supercomputer to cart home the trophy once again
  • The Gunners are predicted to finish second, with United sealing a fourth place behind rivals Liverpool

A supercomputer has predicted how the 2023/24 Premier League table could look at the end of the season.

The upcoming campaign is set to kick off officially on August 12, with reigning champions Man City and Burnley playing the curtain-raiser.

The new season will be marked with new dynamics as it will also feature three newly-promoted teams in the shape of Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United.

While City will be keen to retain the crown, they are sure to face stiff competition from rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Gunners came close to securing the trophy last term, only for their disastrous run of form in the closing stages of the season to deny them a shot at glory.

Mikel Arteta's charges subsequently settled for a second-place finish, with United sealing a third-place spot.

The two English clubs have gone on to strengthen their squads this summer as they hope to challenge City for the trophy.

Supercomputer predicts 2023/24 EPL campaign

However, that would seemingly be an uphill task for both teams after a supercomputer backing Pep Guardiola to lift his sixth Premier League title next term.

According to Sportbible, Guardiola's side are predicted to earn 86.6 points after 100,000 separate simulations of the 38 fixtures that will take place this season.

Arsenal are once again projected to fall short in their Premier League title pursuit and would have to settle for second place, per the prediction made by Bettingexpert via The Mag.

In third place is Liverpool, with the supercomputer backing the Reds to bounce back from their disappointing 2022/23 campaign that saw them miss out on a Champions League spot.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are predicted to seal the final Champions League place on the simulated table, with Newcastle finishing fifth.

On the other end of the table, Sheffield United and Luton are expected to return to the Championship at the first time of asking alongside Nottingham Forest who survived relegation by a whisker last season.

Arsenal crowned Emirates Cup champions

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal are warming up into the 2023/24 season in style after being crowned the Emirates Cup champions.

The Gunners secured the trophy after stunning French side Monaco in post-match penalties at the Emirates Stadium.

The Wednesday night clash marked Arsenal's return to England after their pre-season trips to Germany and the United States.
