Football'World-Class Player' - Klopp Surprised Sadio Mane Flopped at Bayern
- Sadio Mane swapped Liverpool for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022
- The Senegalese winger failed to hit the ground running at the German club
- Mane has since sealed a sensational move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr
Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has broken his silence on Sadio Mane's failed Bayern Munich move.
Mane enjoyed an illustrious seven-year spell with the Reds before he sealed a sensational summer move to the Bundesliga side in the summer of 2022.
According to Metro UK, Bayern forked out around £34 million for the winger, who had played a major part in Klopp's successful reign as Liverpool boss.
However, the forward failed to live up to his billing in his debut season with the Bavarians, who also underwent some transition by changing managers.
Mane's troubled spell with the German giants was further compounded by a public bust-up with his teammate, Leroy Sane.
Klopp speaks on Mane's struggles
Klopp has now spoken for the first time about his former player's struggles in Germany.
According to the Reds boss, he was equally surprised the Senegalese star could not live up to his billing at Bayern Munich, despite all the hype.
"I don’t know what went wrong [at Bayern]," Klopp conceded. "When he left us, he left us on a high in really good shape, world-class player. New environment, new expectations maybe. I didn’t speak to Sadio about it."
Mane has since moved to Al-Nassr and the Saudi Pro League, per Sky Sports, where he will be hoping to reignite his career alongside veteran, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Kimmich reveals why Mane failed
Joshua Kimmich previously claimed that Mane's struggles with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga were not the forward's own fault, Sports Brief reported.
The Senegal star was heavily criticised in the media for failing to have the same impact he had at Liverpool, after his highly-publicised transfer from the Reds.
Kimmich came to Mane’s defense, insisting the forward had to battle too many obstacles, which must have contributed to his low impact at Bayern.
