- The Senegal star is the latest high-profile player to move to Saudi Pro League
After days of speculation, Sadio Mane has completed his move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Nassr from Bayern Munich.
Mane's exit from Bayern was on the cards earlier this summer after manager Thomas Tuchel publically questioned his performances.
The 31-year-old spent just one season in Germany, and his altercation with Leroy Sane and injuries hampered his season. He leaves Bayern with a Bundesliga title.
The former Liverpool star will now play alongside Ronaldo and is the latest player from a top European club to move to Saudi Arabia. Al-Nassr are hoping the Senegal star can help them win the title this season after narrowly losing it to Al-Ittihad last season.
Al-Nassr have signed Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan and Seko Fofana from Lens, and Alex Telles from Manchester United.
Mane's frustrating season with Bayern
The 31-year-old joined Bayern from Liverpool last summer, but he had an average season. he scored 12 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions, per Transfermarkt. An injury forced him to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Bundesliga champions suspended and fined Mane in April after his altercation with his teammate Leroy Sane after a Champions League match.
Mane went on Bayern on their pre-season tour of Japan before Al-Nassr made a move for the two-time African Footballer of the Year.
Kimmich reveals why Mane failed
Joshua Kimmich has revealed that Mane's struggles in his first and only season in the Bundesliga were not the Senegal forward’s fault, Sports Brief reported.
Mane has been heavily criticized in the media after he failed to have the impact he had at Liverpool with the Bundesliga giants after his highly publicized transfer from the Reds last summer.
Kimmich has now come to Mane’s defense, insisting that the Senegal forward had to battle too many obstacles, which must have contributed to his low impact at Bayern.
