Ousmane Dembele looks more and more certain to continue his career next season at French club, Paris Saint-Germain.

This decision appears to have not gone down well with the Barcelona hierarchy, who are believed to be working around the clock to keep the forward beyond the duration of his current contract.

Dembele, who is reported to have verbally agreed to a five-year deal with PSG last week, is also said to have spoken to his coach, Xavi Hernandez, about his desire to lift the UEFA Champions League title with La Blaugrana.

Dembele’s decision to align with the Parisians has come as a shock to many in the Barcelona dressing room, leading his coach to hold a discussion over possibly persuading the forward to stay at the club.

The Frenchman was subject to harsh criticism from fans of the Catalan club in the 2021/22 season, yet Xavi remained firm on his decision to have him as a pivotal part of the project he is building.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona coach even pitched the idea of re-signing former forward, Neymar Junior, in an attempt to convince the Frenchman to stay.

The Brazilian star, since completing his €222 million move to PSG, has fallen short of the expectations placed upon him at the start of his time in Paris and could be convinced to return.
