Super Falcons defender, Michelle Alozie has disclosed the inspiration behind her wearing different coloured boots for matches.

The American-born has been one of Nigeria's best players at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, starring for the Super Falcons as they reached the second round of the competition.

According to Alozie, Italy forward Mario Balotelli has been her favourite footballer since her college soccer days.

Balotelli is notoriously known for wearing coloured cleats for his games, something Alozie has adapted in honour of the ex-Manchester City star.

"My favourite player of all-time is Mario Balotelli and he released a cleat with Puma in 2014, I think it was pink and blue and so since my college days I have just always switched up my cleats, just to be fun and give him some shout outs," she said at a post-match presser after Nigeria's goalless draw against Ireland.

Alozie and her teammates have been solid defensively at the World Cup, conceding only two goals as the Super Falcons finished second in Group B.

Nigeria will face the winner of Group D in the next stage of the competition, as reported by The Guardian.

Alozie opens up on career

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Alozie remains one of the revelations of the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, having been impressive for Nigeria so far.

The 26-year-old was born in Apple Ville in California, USA, to Nigerian parents from Imo in the South Eastern part of Nigeria.

Michelle has gained attention on social media for her attractiveness and outstanding on-field performances.

Oshoala celebrates Nigeria win

Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala celebrated in style by taking off her shirt after netting the Super Falcons' third goal in the game against Australia at the FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Barcelona forward pounced on a mistake by the Australian defence before slotting home for her side's third as Nigeria fought for victory in their second game.

Oshoala had come off the bench moments before giving her side the two-goal cushion to complete a remarkable comeback.
