According to SB Media, Mas has now revealed that Messi will return to Barcelona but only to feature in a farewell game to be organised sometime in the future.

"I don’t know if it’s some type of friendly or farewell game. They have this Gamper Trophy they play for in the summer. But there will be something where, hopefully, when the new Camp Nou is open, because their stadium there they will not be playing in for the next year and a half, hopefully, Lionel Messi can say his proper goodbye."

Messi still remains Barcelona's all-time top goalscorer, with a total of 672 goals, but turned down the opportunity to return to the Catalan club this summer to sign for Inter Miami.

Messi advised to do more

Meanwhile, former Arsenal forward, Carlos Vela has tasked Lionel Messi with putting more effort on the pitch following his switch to the MLS with Inter Miami, Goal reports.

Vela also told Messi to enjoy his game and modify his performance on the pitch, as the MLS requires more work from players than elite European leagues, where service for attackers is exceptional.

Messi made the big switch from European football, penning a three-year deal with Inter Miami after turning down mega bids from Al-Hilal and Barcelona.

Lionel Messi mobbed by fans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Lionel Messi has taken Miami by storm, and his supporters can’t get enough of him.

The Argentine star got mobbed by his loyal fans once again on Friday, this time when he was leaving a store on Lincoln Road.

One fan recorded the incredible scene, with Messi needing security to move through a crowd as he was departing a local pedestrian mall.
