  • Kylian Mbappe’s immediate future at a club level remains clouded by uncertainty
  • PSG want to sell the star due to his insistence upon not renewing his current deal
  • The French champions will pay Mbappe a massive bonus if he is not sold off today

The Kylian Mbappe soap opera looks set for another twist - one that could cost his current employer, Paris Saint-Germain, in a major way.

The French captain looks set to run down his current contract at the capital and this could become a massive detriment to the club.

Amid the clouds hanging over the club football future of Mbappe, he looks set to earn a whopping ₤40 million loyalty bonus, as reported by Diario AS journalist, Andrés Onrubia Ramos.

As posted on Twitter, the reporter's explanation was translated as follows:

"Today, July 31, is the day that Kylian Mbappé's unilateral clause expires to renew until 2025 and that the striker will not activate.
"In addition, if PSG does not sell him before 12.00 AM [on July 31], he will receive 40 of the 80 million euros of the loyalty bonus that corresponds to him."

Ramos added that PSG have seemingly tried to avoid paying this loyalty bonus by excluding Mbappe from their tour of Japan and accepting offers from other clubs.

"However, Mbappé, who is very clever in communicating... has ignored it and has limited himself to saying that he wants to continue until 2024 at PSG."

With the hours counting down, the Parisians are in a race against time to sell off the forward - but it appears the Frenchman is in no rush to decide.

PSG identifies Mbappe's replacement

Meanwhile, PSG appear to have their sights set on Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele as they seek to fill the void left by Lionel Messi's departure.

The French club have reportedly sent a formal letter to Barca of their verbal agreement with the forward, seeking to make this deal official.

According to a report by Marca, Dembele has a €50mil release clause in his current contract which rises to over €100mil next month.

Madrid sets timeline for Mbappe

Sports Brief also reported on Spanish club, Real Madrid setting an Mbappe timeline for the completion of the transfer of the French forward.

Los Blancos are believed to want the deal for the Les Bleus captain done in the first two weeks of August before the new season of La Liga starts.

With PSG seemingly willing to negotiate and an independent agent reportedly appointed, it is believed a fortnight is a reasonable period of time.
