Fans note Mount's 'worrying' stats

However, the Englishman has done little to convince fans that his stunning transfer was some brilliant piece of business.

The midfielder has been heavily involved in United's pre-season tour of the USA, having already featured five times for the club.

Surprisingly, the ex-Chelsea star has neither scored nor assisted with a goal in his first games for his new side.

A Twitter user, going by the handle @Tunnykvng, recently tweeted about the midfielder's stats, sparking mixed reactions among fans.

"Mason Mount for Manchester United: 5 games 0 goals 0 assists," the tweet read.

However, there are those who jumped into Mount's defence, with @Sherifdean11 observing:

"Y'all should leave Mount. He's a midfielder. Let the season start before we abuse him."

@jinazkennedy1 argued:

"He's not a striker and it depends with how the manager wants to use you (positioning)."
