FootballDavid Raya: Arsenal Will Have a Frightening Starting Xi if They Acquire Spanish Goalkeeper
- Arsenal are set to have a completely new look if they manage to sign David Raya
- The Gunners are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing the goalkeeper from Brentford
- Fans are however divided on social media as they feel Aaron Ramsdale should remain as the club’s number 1
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with a sensational move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.
In what would be another show of intent by the Gunners, Raya could be moving to the Emirates after talks with Bayern Munich reportedly collapsed.
The 27-year-old reportedly prefers a move to North London instead, thereby opening the door for Mikel Arteta to bolster his squad from the back.
Raya has reportedly refused to sign a new deal at Brenford, with only one year left on his deal with The Bees, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal, who were genuine title contenders last season, have already made strides towards improving their squad by signing the likes of Kai Havertz from Chelsea and Declan Rice from West Ham.
Further at the back, it looks like Raya will be the perfect addition to the squad to perhaps apply some pressure on Aaron Ramsdale, who has seen his performances dip in the last few months.
If the Gunners manage to acquire the Spaniard’s services, here is how their squad could look like:
In goal: David Raya
Back four: Zinchenko, Gabriel, William Saliba, Ben White
Midfield: Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard.
Front Three: Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka
Would Raya be a good signing
If his Premier League performances are anything to go by, Raya would be an excellent addition for the Gunners.
Not only is the Spaniard a good shot-stopper, he is also decent with his feet and can easily play from the back - a style of play that is very familiar with Mikel Arteta’s teams.

FootballFernandes addresses Onana claims
Sports Brief also reported on Bruno Fernandes’ response to claims he ignored Andre Onana during Manchester United’s friendly against Real Madrid.
Barely a day after a suggestive video surfaced on social media, Fernandes has responded by accusing the outlet that shared the video of trying to create an agenda against him.
United have had mixed fortunes in pre-season, as an emphatic victory over Arsenal was followed by defeat to Wrexham and Real Madrid.
