Kylian Mbappe's Past Comments on Liverpool Resurface Amid Links to Anfield

Liverpool have emerged as surprise favourites to land embattled Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

This comes after PSG accepted a staggering £259million bid from Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal for Mbappe, only for the 24-year-old to turn down the move.

PSG were left angered by Mbappe’s refusal, as the club remain suspicious that the Frenchman has already agreed to join Real Madrid once his contract runs out in Paris.

However, latest reports on Sunday, July 30 now indicate there is another contender to sign Mbappe – Liverpool FC.

Jurgen Klopp’s side is reportedly willing to take up Mbappe’s services on an initial loan deal this season, in what will be a win-win for all parties involved as PSG will get some fees for their superstar, who has previously expressed his admiration for the club.

What Mbappe said about Liverpool

Interestingly, Mbappe to Liverpool is not a far-fetched idea as the forward has previously gone on record to praise the club.

In 2020, when the Reds were en route to a first Premier League title in 30 years, Mbappe was clearly following them keenly, and hailed the team as a “winning machine”.

"What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing," Mbappe said at the time, per the Liverpool website.

"They've lost zero games. When you watch you think everything's easy but that's not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.”

At the time of his comments, Liverpool were on a frightening run in the Premier League, winning 21 of their last 22 games, with the other match ending in a draw.

In a more recent interview, Mbappe spoke on Liverpool where he admitted it was his mother’s favourite club.

"We talked a little bit. I talked to Liverpool because it's the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. "I don't know why, you will have to ask her! It's a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It's a big club." He said as per the Telegraph.
