FootballRasmus Hojlund: Excitement as Manchester United finally agree fee for talented Atalanta striker
- Manchester United are finally set to sign Rasmus Hojlund
- Hojlund has been on United’s radar form months, and an agreement has finally been reached
- The 20-year old also agreed on personal terms and is set to sign a five-year contract
Manchester United appear to finally have their man as the club has reportedly agreed a fee for Rasmus Hojlund
The Red Devils have been on the hunt for a top striker, and were heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
However, Hojlund was also on Ten Hag’s radar, and it seems the gaffer has finally landed his man as the two clubs agreed on a £72m transfer fee.
Out of that fee, £64m will be paid up front, while a further £8
m will come in the form of add-ons, according to Manchester Evening News.
On Saturday, July 29, the 20-year-old Denmark international bid farewell to his teammates ahead of the exciting move to Old Trafford.
He is expected to undergo a medical at Carrington in the next 24 hours.
Hojlund’s market value has rocketed impressively, as he only joined Atalanta last summer for a free of £14.5m from Austrian side Sturm Graz.
Despite initially starting on the bench, he eventually broke into the first team, scoring nine goals in 32 Serie A appearances.
One of his greatest attributes is his presence up front, something United have been lacking in recent seasons.
At Atalanta, he played as a versatile target man, who could create spaces for his teammates thanks to his towering presence.
United attempted to reap from a striker with similar characteristics when they signed Wout Weghorst on loan in January, but he failed to find the net in 17 appearances.
