Bruno Fernandes has listed seven Manchester United teammates who will have a point to prove ahead of the new season.
The 2023/24 Premier League campaign will kick off in mid-August, with United set to raise the curtain on their campaign with a home fixture against Wolves.
The Red Devils will be looking to build on their third-place finish from last season under Erik ten Hag.
Fernandes, who was recently confirmed as the club's new captain, has now named seven players he believes will be out to make an impression.
The Portuguese midfielder included summer signing Mason Mount in the list alongside Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire.
"He [Mount] has a point to prove, like everyone else," The Mirror quoted Fernandes as saying after he was quizzed on Mount’s arrival and what he can bring to United.
"I have a point to prove. So does Licha [Lisandro Martinez], Casemiro, Rapha [Varane], Andre [Onana], Harry [Maguire], and Victor [Lindelof].
"It’s not about him [Mount]. He doesn’t have to prove anything more than anyone else," he added.
Erik keen to strengthen squad
The midfielder's sentiments came at a time when United boss, Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen his squad this summer.
The Red Devils have already made two key signings in the shape of Mount and Andre Onana, who joined from Inter Milan.
Ten Hag is believed to be prioritising the signing of a prolific striker, with Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund top on the transfer wishlist.
Sky Sports reports that Manchester United have reached an agreement with the Serie A side over the signing of the 20-year-old striker.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Bruno Fernandes has taken to social media to respond to claims he ignored Andre Onana.
Manchester United recently faced Real Madrid in a friendly game that offered the chance to see Onana in action for the first time in Red Devils colours.
But the game ended in defeat for Erik Ten Hag’s men, as they conceded two goals against the La Liga giants.
