FootballMaguire Wants To Join ‘Bigger Club’ Than West Ham Ahead of Possible Man United Exit
- West Ham United are among the teams looking to sign Harry Maguire this summer
- However, the embattled Man United defender is said to be keen on joining a 'bigger club'
- Maguire is facing an uncertain future with United, having recently been stripped of the captaincy
Former Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has made his transfer stance clear ahead of his proposed Old Trafford exit this summer.
Maguire is projected to depart United ahead of next season after falling down the pecking order under Erik Ten Hag.
The England international found game time hard to come by last season under the Dutchman, who preferred the partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez at the heart of his defence.
While Ten Hag is said to be viewing the centre-back as a valuable member of his squad, Metro UK reports that the Red Devils could be tempted to offload him if the right offer is tabled.
West Ham United are said to have submitted a £20million bid for the England international, but United rejected it as it was too low.
Maguire's transfer stance
The Times claim that whereas Maguire is also open to departing Old Trafford, he is only keen to join a 'bigger club' than West Ham.
Incidentally, the Hammers are perhaps the only club who have shown a strong desire to sign the Englishman, having also approached United over a potential loan deal.
The Red Devils are understood to be looking for a fee of around £40million for the 29-year-old centre-back.
It now remains to be seen whether West Ham will return with an improved bid as they seek to strengthen their squad.
Chelsea snub Maguire transfer
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea have reportedly decided against signing Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire this summer.
Maguire is currently staring at an uncertain future at Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag.
The England international was recently stripped of the United captaincy in what was the clearest sign the embattled defender may not be part of ten Hag's plans ahead of next season.
