Former England and Arsenal striker, Ian Wright, has sent a message to Nigeria's Football Federation following the Super Falcon's victory over Australia in the 2023 Women's World Cup.
Nigeria produced an outstanding performance to come from a goal down and beat the co-hosts 3-2 in their second group stage game.
Before the start of the tournament, the Super Falcons and the FA were at loggerheads over unpaid bonuses with head coach, Randy Waldrum, reportedly yet to receive his salary.
Wright, who has been following the FIFA World Cup in New Zealand and Australia, took to social media to plead with the NFF to pay the national women's team.
"Pay them!!!!! [Nigeria Football Federation]," he wrote on Twitter, including the Nigerian flag emoji.
In an exciting encounter in Brisbane, it was the Matildas who took the lead after Emily van Egmond slotted home. That lead lasted for only few minutes as Uchenna Kanu levelled at the stroke of half-time.
The nine-time African champions took the lead after the break through Osinachi Ohale before second-half substitute and Barcelona Femeni star, Asisat Oshoala, extended their advantage.
Deep into stoppage time, the Matildas pulled one back through Alana Kennedy, as reported by the BBC.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria produced a five-star performance against co-hosts, Australia, at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
As Sports Brief also reported, the team had to come from behind to defeat the impressive Matildas, who dominated for most of the first half.
Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, made a number of saves to keep her side in the game but could not keep out Van Egmond.
