Zambia’s FIFA Women’s World Cup debut has been a true baptism of fire.
The Copper Queens lost their first two fixtures in the tournament but have a chance to redeem themselves against Costa Rica on July 31.
Both sides have already been eliminated from the tournament, with Zambia being beaten 5-0 by both Spain and Japan, SuperSport reported.
Despite the crushing defeats suffered by the team, Patson Daka wants them to keep their heads held high.
The Zambian international took to social media to encourage the side to stick together and support one another and continue pushing forward.
Daka, who plays for Leicester City, has made 35 appearances for the men’s national team, but the side has never qualified for the tournament like the women’s side did.
As noted by FIFA, the Copper Queens made history when they became the first team from any landlocked African nation to qualify for a senior World Cup, male or female.
