FootballWhen Van Persie Hinted at Where His Loyalty Lies Between Arsenal and Man United
- Robin van Persie spent 11 years in the Premier League during his time in England
- Eight of those years came with Arsenal before he moved to Manchester United
- It was during his time at Man United the ex-striker got to taste Premier League glory
Former Netherlands international Robin van Persie enjoyed an illustrious career in the Premier League spanning more than a decade.
Van Persie's stint in the English top flight saw him turn out for both Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Dutchman initially moved to the EPL with the Gunners after he departed Feyenoord for the Emirates Stadium in 2004.
He went on to spend eight years with the north Londoners before he sealed a stunning transfer move to Man United in 2012 under Sir Alex Ferguson.
It was after the former striker's move to Old Trafford that he got to taste Premier League glory in his first season with the club.
Where does Van Persie's loyalty lie?
Despite spending eight years with Arsenal, Van Persie appears to have a soft spot for the Red Devils, at least going by his past comments.
According to The Mirror, back in 2019, the 39-year-old was asked who the most talented team-mate of his was over the course of his career.
The ex-striker instead opted to name six and sent a subtle hint over where his loyalties lie regarding his two former Premier League sides.
"So difficult to name one. I would go for Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy," he told BBC Sport.
While reflecting on his United spell, Van Persie's preference for the club shone through and through.
"I had one more year on my deal, maybe I should have stayed. But then Van Gaal was the coach and he made it quite clear what his intentions were. Then you have to make a decision: Do you stay and fight for your place?

Football"Would it be an honest competition or not? Based on all that info, we decided to move on. But three years is not three days, it's still a long period, it's still a big part of my football career, and in total 11 years of football in England... as a kid, I would never have dreamed of that," he added.
