Former Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury has made a stunning career switch after he decided to call time on his career aged just 32.

Lansbury came through the ranks with Arsenal's youth system but failed to make the grade with the north Londoners.

The Englishman went on to have stints with several clubs, including Scunthorpe, Norwich City, West Ham United, and Aston Villa, before he eventually ended up with Luton Town.

According to The Mirror, Lansbury was part of the Luton squad that secured a shock promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.

However, he was subsequently released, leaving him with no choice but to hang up his boots.

Lansbury makes career change

The Arsenal wonderkid has now transitioned into a completely different career that will see him become a pitch maintainer through his company Grass Gains.

It is understood that the ex-footballer developed an interest in gardening during the lockdown love and will soon begin work on the Monaco pitch at the Stade Louis II ahead of their return to the Champions League football.

Lansbury has previously helped out at Fulham's Craven Cottage and with Belgian outfit Genk.

"It came about during the first lockdown when I was stuck at home and got into gardening. I started to spray my weeds with toxic stuff and put toxic fertiliser down and my missus wasn’t too happy about the kids running on the grass straight after," he told talkSPORT.
"We’re going in the right direction, a few local clubs have asked for it and we’ve put it down on their pitches as well. I want to give back to the local clubs really, I want them to have a nice pitch to play on, there’s nothing better than a kid running on a pitch with stripes on it and that’s what it does, it helps stripe it off," he added.
