- There was a surprise bust-up between a goalkeeper and a coach during the team’s training
Real Madrid are currently camped for preseason at the UCLA facilities in the United States. They started their 2023/24 football season with a 3-2 win over AC Milan.
Los Blancos are also scheduled to take on Manchester United, Barcelona, and Juventus in the coming days.
Amidst the fare and frenzy in the camp of the Spanish giants, it appeared that a bust-up between goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin and goalkeeper coach, Luis Llopis looked set to deter the warm atmosphere.
In a video posted by Marca, Lunin was seen having a heated argument with Llopis, who is one of head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s most trusted men.
It is believed Llopis scolded Lunin due to his execution of some exercises. Lunin clearly did not appreciate what was said and responded to the coach by throwing gestures, waving, and shaking his head.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper was frustrated, and threw his bib to the ground angrily.
Lunin and Llopis patch up
The tension has since calmed between the pair, as both player and coach were spotted during their next session hugging. Llopis kissed Lunin on the forehead, a clear show of affection.
The future of the young goalkeeper still remains far from settled in the Spanish capital.
According to reports from Football Espana, Lunin was strongly linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer, but the goalkeeper opted to remain at the club.
The Ukrainian was in goal for the duration of the preseason friendly against AC Milan and looks set to continue when Real Madrid play Man United.
