- The midfielder made his Real Madrid debut in the preseason friendly against AC Milan
- Carlo Ancelotti has cleared the air on the midfielder’s best position
Jude Bellingham's best position in Real Madrid’s squad has increasingly become a topic of debate since the midfielder completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to the Spanish capital.
Ahead of his debut against Milan, many had their eyes on Carlo Ancelotti’s team sheet and how his new Real Madrid squad would line up.
Filing out in a 4-4-2 diamond formation, the team completed a comeback victory against the Italian giants. Bellingham, who featured for 63 minutes for his new club, was largely utilised as the roaming midfielder behind the strikers on the night, Joselu Marto and Brahim Diaz.
Ancelotti quizzed about Bellingham’s role
Carlo Ancelotti, who was prior to the fixture asked about how Jude Bellingham would fit into his team’s structure, responded quite confidently about the midfielder’s ability.
As quoted by Marca, the Italian manager said:
"Bellingham is a great inside midfielder with qualities we don't have in the squad, he makes runs into the box without the ball."
Ancelotti's words appeared to suggest Jude will play as a midfielder, but nothing could be ruled out as to how the Italian will potentially use him, given his track record of utilising players in some unorthodox positions.
However, after seeing the English midfielder dazzle in the number 10 role against AC Milan, the media took little time to ask Ancelotti about his best position.
This time, he responded:
"Bellingham’s best position is as a 10," he said, as quoted by Madrid Zone.
