  • Mykhailo Mudryk was among the goalscorers, as he finally scored his first goal for the west Londoners
  • The forward sealed a stunning move to Stamford Bridge back in January

Mykhailo Mudryk has finally scored his first goal for Chelsea since he joined them during the January transfer window.

The Ukrainian youngster sealed a sensational summer move to Stamford Bridge from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88m.

Despite the huge transfer fees paid for his services, Mudryk failed to live up to his price tag in his debut season in the Premier League for Chelsea.

However, he is seemingly rediscovering his feet after he finally opened his goal account for the west London club on Saturday, July 23, during a pre-season friendly clash against Brighton.

The Sun reports that the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk forward was among the goalscorers as Mauricio Pochettino's charges stunned the Seagulls 4-3 in the United States.

How Chelsea sunk Brighton

According to Football London, Danny Welbeck got Brighton off the mark with the opener in the 13th minute of the match before Christopher Nkunku equalised for Chelsea six minutes later.

Mudryk restored the Blues' lead in the 65th minute of the match with a powerful volleyed effort before Conor Gallagher grabbed a third, and Nicolas Jackson raced through on goal to add a fourth.

Pochettino's charges suffered a late scare shortly after and nearly let their comfortable lead slip off their hands after Brighton got one back via a Joao Pedro penalty and Deniz Undav made it 4-3 at stoppage time.

Mudryk backed to shine

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Mykhailo Mudryk's transfer story is undoubtedly one that will be around for a very long time after he joined Chelsea for £89m despite being the Gunners' primary target.

The transfer fee looks outrageous, considering he had played just 27 league games since turning pro and had nine goals in the Ukrainian Premier League before the move.

Ukraine interim boss Ruslan Rotan has called for patience for Mudryk and tipped him to be Chelsea's main man next season despite his slow start to life in England.
