The Gunners' Premier League title charge collapsed late last season, and they have been making moves to improve their squad to challenge Manchester City. They have so far signed Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice for big money, per GOAL.

Speaking in a press conference in the USA, Arteta played down those links when asked if Arsenal could make a move for the French star.

"You know I never talk about players that are not part of our team," via Football London.

Mbappe is a major target for Real Madrid, one of the few clubs that can afford him. He is valued at more than 100 million euros, a figure Arsenal have splashed this summer already on Declan Rice.

Mbappe vs PSG dispute

Mbappe and PSG have been locked in a highly publicized contract standoff for months. The club wants to sell him this summer because he refused to sign an extension, and they do not intend to lose him for nothing next summer.

Mapper has insisted he wants to stay and reportedly wants to join Real Madrid next summer for free. That situation has forced the club to sideline him ahead of the new season, and are reportedly looking to sell him this summer.

Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti offered the same response as Arteta when asked about Madrid's interest in Mbappe.

Rodrygo wants Mbappe in Madrid

Sports Brief earlier reported on Madrid youngster Rodrygo saying he hopes Mbappe joins his team because he will help them.

"Of course, I hope Mbappe comes because he will help us a lot. He is a real star, but we really don't know anything."

If he joins Madrid, it will be interesting to see where he is played by Ancelotti. Vinicius Jr currently plays on the left wing at the club.
