At Sociedad, he made 93 appearances and scored 7 goals, and provided 18 assists, per Transfermarkt.

Moreover, he made 125 appearances with Spain and played was a key player in their 2008 European Championship glory, 2010 World Cup triumph, and 2012 European Championship victory. He scored 35 goals for Spain.

The incident took place at the recent Maspalomas Carnival in Gran Canaria and included Silva's brother and a third individual.

The case never reached trial as all defendants admitted their parts in the incident.
