Lionel Messi is the man of the moment, much so that even his enemies are congratulating him after a match-winning freekick in the last minute of his Inter Miami debut.

The moment thousands at the stadium and billions worldwide were waiting for came a few hours ago as Messi stepped onto the pitch for the first time for his new club.

He proved why he is regarded as the greatest of all time by many fans after he stepped up in the final minute of the game to secure a win for his new club, which hadn't won in eleven games.

Muller congratulates Messi

Bayern Munich veteran Thomas Muller was one of the football stars who congratulated Messi on his soccer debut. It stood out because of the history between the two players.

"What a great start for Lionel #Messi @InterMiamiCF 👏👍🏼 #MLS #LionelMessi," he wrote on Twitter.

The German has contributed to two of Messi's greatest disappointments in football. In the 2014 FIFA World Cup final in Brazil, Germany won in added minutes via Mario Gotze's 116th-minute winner.

He was also in his element for Bayern's 8-2 win over Messi's Barcelona in 2020 en route to winning the UEFA Champions League, beating Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Even after the 36-year-old departed Barcelona, he still haunted him and was responsible for PSG's elimination in the Champions League last year.

Muller to miss Bayern's preseason

According to an official statement, the 33-year-old will not be part of the Bavarian's preseason tour of Asia due to a muscle injury and will remain in Munich.

"Thomas Müller will continue to train at Säbener Strasse over the next few days, while FC Bayern will complete this year's Audi Summer Tour in Tokyo and Singapore on Monday. The reason is muscular problems in the left hip flexor," the statement reads.

Beckham emotional after Messi's winner

Sports Brief reported that David Beckham was in tears after watching Lionel Messi score the match-winning freekick on his Inter Miami debut.

The England legend and club co-owner could not hide his admiration after the beauty of a goal, which reminded him of his playing days when he was an expert at setpieces.
