Diaz wowed his new teammates -who were seated during his performance - with a perfect rendition of Sweet Caroline that had everyone during the initiation joining in.

Watch Diaz's Villarreal initiation performance:

According to Wikipedia, Sweet Caroline was released in May 1969 as a single, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA by August that year, after over a million sales.

The song has also become synonymous with football supporters worldwide, notably during England's run to the final of Euro 2020, while it was also popular with the England women's team when they won Euro 2022.

What Diaz brings to Villarreal

Diaz secured a move to Villarreal after scoring 16 goals for Blackburn Rovers last season, ensuring the La Liga club will be somewhat guaranteed goals during his time with the club, The Sun reports.

The Chiean has proven he is quite the scorer, having previously hit 22 goals in the 2021-22 campaign for the English club and he is expected to bring that expertise to help his new side this season.

Nicolas Jackson finished as Villarreal’s top scorer last season, netting a total of 12 goals for the Spanish side in La Liga, and Diaz would be expected to assist with some of the load up-front.

Chelsea swoop on Villarreal’s Jackson

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on how Chelsea's strike force is taking shape after the Blues confirmed the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal on Friday.

The Senegalese international has signed an eight-year deal at Stamford Bridge after impressing in La Liga last season with 12 goals in 26 appearances.
