Etiosa Ighodaro is becoming somewhat of a loan specialist.
The Nigerian striker is a Mamelodi Sundowns player but is yet to turn out in the club’s colours - and this season will be no different.
Ighodaro joined the DStv Premiership champions in 2021 from Abuja Football College but was first sent out on loan to the University of Pretoria.
The following season, he was loaned out to Chippa United, where he showcased his goal-scoring prowess with 11 strikes in the season, Transfermarkt noted.
Despite his impressive showing, Ighodaro can’t get into the Sundowns’ side as Masandawana’s city rivals, SuperSport United, have confirmed the Nigerian will play for them next season.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori took to social media to confirm the player will join Gavin Hunt’s side on a season-long loan.
Margeman joins Ighodaro at SuperSport
The Nigerian attacker is not the only Sundowns star who will join SuperSport for next season. As noted by FarPost, Grant Margeman has secured a permanent move to United.
The midfielder spent last season on loan at the team and was instrumental in helping them to a third-place finish in the league and qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup.
Ighodaro attracts international attention
Ighodaro is a man in demand at the moment. The Mamelodi Sundowns striker has attracted interest from a few clubs lately, including sides in Europe.
As Sports Brief reported, not only has the Nigerian been linked with a move to France, he also received interest from Serbian side, Partizan Belgrade.
Ighodaro could dethrone Peter Shalulile
Sports Brief also reported previously on how Peter Shalulile’s time at the top of the local goal-scoring charts was being threatened.
Five players, including Chippa United’s Ighodaro had the chance to beat the Namibian on the final day of the previous season.
