Heading into the tie, the Super Falcons had been urged to make the fans at home happy and they certainly did their best against an equally determined side.

It was also a night that saw Barcelona Femeni striker, Asisat Oshoala effectively 'caged' by the opposition, which meant she was unable to operate in the 18-yard box.

According to the report by Guardian, Canada had a chance to take the lead in the 59th minute when they were awarded a penalty, with Christine Sinclair stepping up.

However, Nnadozie dived well to save the kick and was also named the player of the match, according to a tweet by Nigerian Football Federation official, Ruth David.

While fans were pleased with Nigeria's result from their opening game, the happier supporters would certainly be the Australians, who are currently topping Group B following their 1-0 win over Ireland.

However, the Super Falcons will need to build on their draw if they are to advance from the group stages.
