Cristiano Ronaldo was on the losing end of another disastrous pre-season result when Al-Nassr suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Benfica.
The 38-year-old played more than two-thirds of Al-Nassr's 4-1 defeat on Thursday, July 20, with his only sniff at goal coming by way of a wayward chip.
Instead, his former Real Madrid teammate, Angel Di Maria, stole the limelight with his dazzling performance, SportBIBLE reports.
The Argentine broke the game's deadlock after 23 minutes before going on to leave a lasting impression on the fixture.
Nonetheless, it was a great exercise for coach Luis Castro as he ramps up Al-Nassr's pre-season preparations ahead of what promises to be a thrilling 2023-24 Saudi Pro League campaign.
Up next for Al-Nassr is an exciting match-up with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, July 25, per 90 Min.
Ronaldo's pitch invader gesture
While Ronaldo has come under scrutiny for his sub-par performance so far, his gesture during the Benfica defeat might just atone for his display.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid attacker was involved with a pitch invader for the umpteenth time in his illustrious career.
Despite glaring at the cold hands of a heavy defeat, CR7 still managed to give some attention to the die-hard fan, who invaded the pitch to take a selfie with his idol.

"Always Ronaldo with a fan."
@odurosolomon122, on the other hand, took a dig at the media for over-concentrating on Ronaldo's flaws instead of focusing their lens on gestures of this kind:
"The media will not show the good side of him, but only them to post Ronaldo Al Nassr lost to Benfica."

Al-Nassr fail in pre-season again
Sports Brief also reported that Al-Nassr stumbled to their second successive defeat in pre-season following a crushing defeat against Benfica.
The 4-1 scoreline deals a second successive defeat to the 2022-23 Saudi Pro League runners-up in a span of three days, following their previous loss to Spanish La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.
Up next for Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr teammates is a tough test against Paris Saint-Germain on July 25.
