The 35-year-old stole the headlines with his mesmeric display, which was crowned with a goal as Benfica condemned Al-Nassr to a 4-1 defeat on Thursday, July 20.
Despite not lasting the entire duration of the match, Di Maria, who returned to Benfica after a single season with Juventus, left a lasting impression on the tie, per Mykhel.com.
Most notably, his 1v1 duel with Cristiano, where the Argentine outpowered the Portuguese phenom with a spell-binding skill.
What did Di Maria do to Ronaldo?
As the ball bounced before Di Maria, Ronaldo swiftly moved in, eager to reclaim possession from his former clubmate. However, the Argentine had a clever strategy in mind.

The 4-1 scoreline deals a second successive defeat to the 2022-23 Saudi Pro League runners-up in a span of three days, following their previous loss to Spanish La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.
