Jurrien Timber appears to have already won the hearts of Arsenal fans after an impressive performance in Washington on Thursday.

Mikel Arteta’s side gave fans a glimpse of what was to come next season as they comfortably beat MLS All Stars 5-0.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz were enough to see off the MLS All Stars, with Timber making a brief but impactful cameo.

A lot of eyes were on the Gunners’ record signing Declan Rice as he made an appearance in the second half, but it was Timber who ultimately made more of an impact.

After the injury struggles of Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba last season, Arsenal were on the hunt for a versatile defender who could bring the much-needed stability at the back.

And they appear to have found their man, as Timber, who came in the second half in place of Saliba, proved to be a menace for the opposition down the right side.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was also full of praise for the right-back, who he termed as a very versatile player.

“He’s a really versatile player. We can use him in different positions within those positions. He gives you the capacity to invert and occupy different spaces, He’s so comfortable on the ball in that phase.” The gaffer said as quoted on Metro.Uk

Arsenal’s next game will be a friendly against familiar foes Manchester United on Sunday, July 23.

Saliba speaks on Van Dijk
