- Ronaldo and Messi have an incredible 12 Ballon d'Or wins between them
Real Madrid forward, Rodrygo, has expressed his preference for the superior player between Argentina's Lionel Messi and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi and Ronaldo have been the reigning stars of the football world for more than 15 years. Between them, the pair has clinched an astounding total of 12 Ballon d'Or awards.
However, when asked to select his preferred player between the two forwards, Rodrygo opted for the Real Madrid legend Ronaldo over the Barcelona icon.
“Messi or Ronaldo? Ronaldo,” Rodrygo said, via Madrid Zone.
Rodrygo made his move to Los Blancos from Santos in 2019 for a transfer fee of €45 million. However, the Brazilian attacker did not share the pitch with Ronaldo, who currently plies his trade for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
The former Santos prodigy did face Messi on five occasions. Two of these matches occurred while the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was at Barcelona, and the other two took place when Messi was playing for Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Sportskeeda, Rodrygo and the MLS's biggest star also crossed paths during an international friendly between Argentina and Brazil in November 2019.

The Portuguese veteran also claimed the current Guinness World Record for the top-earning sportsman, knocking his arch-rival - Messi - from the top spot.
