English Premier League side Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq have reached an agreement in principle on a fee for Jordan Henderson.
After an illustrious 12-year stint at Anfield, in which he led the Reds to their long-awaited Premier League title, Henderson is set to embark on a new chapter in the Saudi Pro League.
Henderson to Etiffaq
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the 33-year-old midfielder agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Al-Ettifaq last week.
It has been rumoured that Henderson has been offered a substantial weekly wage of £700,000, highlighting the club's determination to secure his services, per GOAL.
Henderson's move follows in the footsteps of other prominent Premier League players who have made the transition to Saudi Arabia.
Premier League Saudi influx
Henderson's Liverpool teammate, Roberto Firmino, Chelsea's Edouard Mendy and N'Golo Kante, as well as Wolves' Ruben Neves, have all paved the way for Premier League players seeking new challenges in the Saudi Pro League.
Notably, the Englishman will have the opportunity to reunite with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq. Gerrard, revered for his legendary playing career with Liverpool, will be assuming a technical role in the team's dugout.
Etiffaq's huge ambitions
Henderson's arrival further solidifies the club's ambition to reinforce their squad with experienced and accomplished players.
Ettifaq holds a significant place in Saudi Arabian football history, as they were the first Saudi team to claim an international title- the 1984 Arab Club Champions Cup.
