Wayne Rooney has named three teams he believes can challenge Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title next season.

The 2022/23 campaign was pretty much a two-horse race pitting City and the Gunners, where the former were crowned champions.

The North Londoners have since embarked on a massive spending spree this summer, with Mikel Arteta investing heavily in new signings.

Declan Rice and Kai Havertz are the major signings who have sealed moves to the Emirates Stadium in recent days, alongside Jurrien Timber, who joined from Ajax.

Arsenal's investment in new signings has seen the club backed to challenge for the Premier League title, with Arsene Wenger backing his former side as clear favourites, per Euro Sport.

Rooney backs 3 clubs for glory

While Rooney contends City are the clear favourites to win the Premier League title once again next season, he believes there are there other teams that will rival the Citizens.

According to the legendary Man United forward, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and the Red Devils will be in the frame.

"They [City] will be the favourites again to win the Premier League. I think Liverpool will be better next season, Chelsea will be better. Hopefully Manchester United will be better as well," Rooney said via Metro UK.
"But I think Arsenal have made some really good signings and they will compete again," he added.

Rooney advises Greenwood to leave

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has advised Mason Greenwood to leave the club following the latest snub by Erik ten Hag.

the English forward has not kicked a ball for more than a year and a half, with his latest appearance for the Red Devils coming in January 2022.

The youngster has been battling legal challenges after he was charged with assaulting and abusing his girlfriend.
