FootballSamuel Eto’o Accused of Attempting To Ruin the Career of Cameroonian Goalie Andre Onana
Former vice President of the Cameroonian Football Federation Henri Njalla Quan has accused Samuel Eto'o of trying to ruin the career of goalkeeper Andre Onana who is on the verge of joining Manchester United.
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Onana left the camp of the Cameroonian team due to personal differences with the management.
Football fans were surprised to see Onana leaving the national team camp with issues reported to have occurred between the goalkeeper and Samuel Eto'o.
According to the reports on Espana and News Agency, Henri Njalla Quan claimed that Eto'o tried his best to actually rubbish the career of the Inter Milan stopper.
Onana steered Inter to the Champions League final losing against Man City.
Henri Quan's statement about Eto'o
“I asked him formally about the future of our goalkeeper [Onana] in the national team, and he replied that the boy’s career is over and that the letter he sent to his club, Inter, was to get rid of the boy, so how can someone be so petty? He wanted to get rid of him at all costs.
“The stars of the national team are being suffocated by someone who himself was a star when he was a footballer, and who wants to continue being one as a coach. He is present at all meetings, in all training sessions. Even the coach (Rigobert Song) feels suffocated by the omnipresence of Eto’o.”
Onana confirms irresistible United move
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how super goalie Andre Onana said that he couldn't resist the chance to play at Manchester United as the Cameroon goalkeeper prepares to join the Premier League giants after one season at Inter Milan.
Onana is set to sign for United in a deal worth a reported 55 million euros ($62 million) after joining Inter last summer as a free agent and starring in their run to the Champions League final.
In an interview with the Gazzetta Dello Sport published on Wednesday, he confirmed his transfer to Old Trafford, saying he couldn't wait to rejoin his former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag.
