FootballWayne Rooney Tells Mason Greenwood to Leave Man United After Latest Snub
- Mason Greenwood has not played football for more than one and a half years
- The youngster was suspended by Man United after his arrest in January 2022
- Greenwood has since had the charges he was facing dropped but is yet to resume action
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has advised Mason Greenwood to leave the club following the latest snub by Erik ten Hag.
Greenwood has not kicked a ball for more than a year and a half, with his latest appearance for the Red Devils coming in January 2022.
The youngster has been battling legal challenges after he was charged with assaulting and abusing his girlfriend.
However, the England international was left off the hook in February 2023 after all the charges were dropped.
According to Metro UK, Greenwood was initially arrested in January 2022 before being released on bail prior to having the charges dropped.
Despite the development, United are yet to reintegrate the forward into the squad and was recently snubbed by Ten Hag when the pre-season squad was named.
Rooney tells Greenwood to quit Man United
Rooney has now urged the ManUnited academy graduate to quit Old Trafford to reignite his football career.
While sympathising with the youngster's situation, Wazza believes it is imperative Greenwood returns to action to make up for lost time.
"It leaves Mason Greenwood in a position where he is stuck," Rooney told The Athletic.
"So for Mason, it’s a bad position to be in because I’m sure he just wants to play football. But for the club, its image and ensuring they make the right decisions, it’s almost a catch 22.
"I think the best thing for Mason now is to get out of the club and go and develop somewhere else," he added.

All other names from the senior men's and women's sides are available, but Greenwood is not included.
