Onome Ebi who is the captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria has confirmed her readiness to help her country excel at the coming 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The strong defender is now set to make history as she will be featuring in her sixth World Cup which is an incredible record for the Nigerian star.

This year's Women's World Cup will start on July 20 to August 20.

Super Falcons who have never won the championship before will take on Canada on Friday, July 21 in their first game at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Onome Ebi while speaking according to what she posted on her official Twitter page made it clear that she and her teammates are ready for the tournament.

Ebi ready for the World Cup

“6th coming through in 4 days. Let’s do this together. Don’t fight or question what hard work, dedication, consistency, and grace can make you achieve. Luck or politics, as most people say, can never get you this far in sports. Don’t allow anyone to deceive you.''

Onome is the first African footballer to play in five FIFA World Cups and she is about to appear in a record-extending sixth showpiece.

The Super Falcons are in Group B alongside hosts Australia, the Republic of Ireland, and Canada.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Onome Ebi has disclosed the major secret that keeps her to stay in shape at the age of 40 ahead of Nigeria's campaign in the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Ebi has recorded her name in the history books of Nigerian football as she has been playing active soccer for more than 20 years and this year's World Cup will be her sixth appearance.

Despite serious attacks by fans on social media that the former Bayelsa Queens' captain should retire from international football, Ebi is not worried as she wants to continue playing
