FootballBayern Worry Public Comments May Have Ruined Their Pursuit of Harry Kane
- Bayern Munich fear their chances of signing Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane have been dealt a blow by public comments made by club president, Uli Hoeness
- Bayern have been attempting to sign the England striker but have not gotten a breakthrough so far
- Kane has one year left on his contract and could leave for free next season if he stays
Tottenham Hotspur recently kicked off their pre-season tour of Australia, but the noise around the future of striker, Harry Kane has not gone away.
Bayern Munich, who are aiming to sign the England captain, fear they may have wasted a chance to sign the striker because of comments made by president, Uli Hoeness.
Bayern have had two bids rejected by the English side, but Hoeness' bullish comments about the striker will likely have an effect on a potential deal.
"Personally, I didn't speak to him that often. So far, Harry has made it very clear in all talks that his decision is there. And if it stays, then we'll get him," Hoeness told Kicker.
Sky Sports News reported earlier this week that the North London side and Bayern held talks over the signing of Kane. Bayern chief executive, Jan-Christian Dreesen agreed with Hoeness's remarks, but warned that they must be careful.
Kane has also had a chat with new Spurs boss, Ange Postecoglou, but the Australian revealed that they only spoke about how to improve the team. A lot can happen in the summer transfer window, and Tottenham will not want to let their best player leave for nothing next season.
PSG in for Kane?
Reports also emerged late last week that Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain were looking to hijack Bayern's bid to sign Kane. They are willing to match any bid placed by the German giants.
Sadio Mané set to depart from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window
FootballThe Telegraph reported that the 29-year-old will reject a move to the French club, meaning Spurs may not get a substantial amount resulting from a bidding war between Bayern and PSG. Daniel Levy still wants more than £100 million for the striker.
Kane could decide to stay and try to break Alan Shearer's Premier League goal-scoring record of 260 goals. The Englishman has 213 goals in the Premier League, the second most in league history.
Bayern considers Kane alternatives
Sports Brief also reported that Bayern Munich have intensified their chase of Kane ahead of the coming season.
Kane had been the club’s top target for some time, but recent news has indicated the 29-year-old is not the only player on the Bavarians' radar.
While the Englishman evidently remains their priority, Manchester City's Julian Alvarez or Juventus’ wantaway center-forward, Dusan Vlahovic, are also being considered.
