- Despite being handed a ban by FIFA, Al-Nassr are looking forward to making further additions to their squad
Al-Nassr are on the verge of finalizing the signing of Manchester United defender, Alex Telles.
The club has been at the forefront of the Saudi Pro League's charge, securing top football talents worldwide, starting with the sensational £175 million annual contract signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Building on this landmark acquisition, the nine-time Saudi champions swiftly reinforced their squad with additional European prowess. Among the notable additions is Marcelo Brozovic, a finalist in the 2023 Champions League.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reports that a verbal agreement between Manchester United and Al-Nassr, along with the paperwork, is awaited for the Telles deal.
Furthermore, the club is also rapidly progressing towards securing a deal for RC Lens midfielder, Seko Fofana.
Al-Nassr handed transfer ban
While Al-Nassr continue to make inroads in the transfer market, FIFA has imposed a ban on the Saudi club, preventing them from registering new players, following an unresolved dispute with English club Leicester City.
According to ESPN, the Riyadh-based giants owe Leicester City £14 million from the transfer deal involving Ahmed Musa in 2018. Moreover, the 2016 Premier League champions are still awaiting £390,000 in add-ons that were stipulated in the agreement.
Due to their failure to fulfil the payment obligations since the completion of the deal for the Nigerian forward, Al-Nassr now faces restrictions from FIFA on recruiting new players.
Al-Nassr suffer embarrassing friendly loss
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr teammates had an embarrassing reality check in their third preparatory game, suffering a crushing 5-0 defeat against Celta Vigo on July 17, Sports Brief reported.
Despite a decent first-half performance that held Celta to a goalless draw, things unravelled in the second half - worsened by a red card - resulting in a demoralizing 5-0 defeat.
